Like all games, Diablo 3 must send user's client more information than is seen on screen, to save loading time and reduce lag. It's not know if or how Blizzard will attempt to prevent Diablo 3 version of maphack from being put into use. On other hand, many players who use maphack argue that it's not really cheating, since it just provides sort of shortcut through boring levels they've already played million times during their Diablo 2 career. Purist players do not use maphack and tend to cheer for disciplinary actions taken those who do. Despite this, its use was common in realms. Use of maphack violates EULA and ToS, and numerous have been suspended or banned from battle. Some versions of maphack would also show location or full equipment of other players, as well as showing all of monsters, shrines, chests, and more on level. Maphack allows players to see entire map as soon as they enter area, rather than having to explore area first to discover layout of level. Maphack was illegal program in wide use by Diablo 2 players.
